Norma Cantu speaks at TAMU for Women’s and Gender Studies 30th Anniversary.
Women’s and Gender Studies celebrated its 30th anniversary on March 4th with a lecture by Norma Elia Cantú, Murchison Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Trinity University. Dr. Cantú reflected on women’s role in the history of the Americas and read from two of her books, Canicula and Cabañuelas. She urged the crowd of over 80 people to do “work that matters.” After the lecture, WGST faculty celebrated at a reception featuring a cake made by local pastry chef Marisa Winking. Happy 30th to the faculty, staff, and students of Women’s and Gender Studies!
