Welcome from the Director
Welcome to Women’s and Gender Studies at Texas A&M University, an interdisciplinary program with a diverse faculty representing all of the departments in the College of Liberal Arts and several departments outside our college. Our program offers a major, minor, and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies.
Our faculty members conduct research and offer courses on a variety of themes pertaining to women’s lives and the study of gender in relation to health, queer theory, film, religion, language, social movements, science, and the workplace. We have over fourty-five affiliated faculty members with research areas in masculinity studies, transnationalism, language development, politics, and performance. These research areas translate into a wide range of exciting course offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Our students enjoy learning in small classes and developing close mentoring relationships with their professors. Our graduates have gone on to law school and graduate school. They have become journalists and entrepreneurs. In all cases, they have applied their interest in gender studies to their life and learning beyond their education here at Texas A&M.
Whether we’re studying Beyonce and Bergman, marriage and motherhood, or feminism and gay rights, our program offers an exciting opportunity to learn with a diverse faculty and an engaged group of students. We are located on the 3rd floor of Bolton Hall, which sits just beyond the Century Tree. Come visit us, meet our faculty, and see what we have to offer!
