Diversity and Inclusion in WGST Courses:
Women’s and Gender Studies classes are designed to interrogate identity, power, and privilege. Course readings and discussions center on difficulty and challenging topics that are often both personal and political. Expectation are that we will have many lively conversations in our class where disagreements will arise, and I welcome these as part of critical intellectual exchange. I encourage all of us to take part in engaged, mindful, and honest discussions. It is our responsibility together for creating a productive and safe learning environment that is both intellectually rigorous and respectful of differences. Derogatory comments based on any aspect of identity, including race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or nationality, will not be tolerated in the physical or virtual classroom space.
